SPAN ALASKA Fully Operational
Not Subject to Alaska Shelter-at-Home and Intrastate Travel Ban (Health Mandates 11 and 12)
Please be advised that the State of Alaska’s ‘shelter at home’ executive order and intrastate travel ban issued for residents of Alaska do not affect our operations. Span Alaska and the services that support our operations are critical and essential to the State of Alaska and are “Essential businesses that supply other essential businesses with the support or supplies necessary to operate,” as stated by State of Alaska COVID-19 Mandate 010. U.S. Department of Homeland Security guidance considers Span Alaska’s employees as “critical infrastructure workers.” As part of a federally designated “Critical Infrastructure Industry — Transportation,” we have a special responsibility to maintain normal work schedules to the best of our ability. The Transportation Systems Sector is one of 16 national critical infrastructure sectors “whose assets, systems, and networks, whether physical or virtual, are considered so vital to the United States that their incapacitation or destruction would have a debilitating effect on security, national economic security, national public health or safety, or any combination thereof.” (https://www.cisa.gov/critical-infrastructure-sectors)
Span Alaska’s priority is the safety of our workforce, our customers, and the vital cargo entrusted to us for successful delivery throughout Alaska. To date, there have been no instances of COVID-19 with our employees. Our drivers are practicing enhanced hygiene techniques while on the road, and are trained to maintain appropriate physical distance from others during pickups and deliveries.
Matson, our ocean service provider (and parent company), continues to operate its northbound and southbound vessel schedules without interruption. These include the twice-weekly service between Tacoma and Anchorage.
Please Notify Us Immediately if Your Business is Impacted by Covid-19 mandates & emergency orders
